Story

Champagne Autréau-Lasnot is a family-run grower estate based in Venteuil, in the Vallée de la Marne. The family has been established in the village since the early 20th century, with the domaine founded in 1932. Today, the fifth generation, Fabrice and Florent Autréau, run the estate alongside their partners. The estate farms around 15–17 hectares across Venteuil and neighbouring villages, with plantings of Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Meunier is the dominant variety, reflecting the character of the Vallée de la Marne. Viticulture is increasingly focused on sustainability, with part of the estate in conversion to organic farming. In the cellar, the approach is straightforward, with full malolactic fermentation commonly used and blends made from multiple recent vintages to maintain consistency.

Winemaking

The Brut NV is a 50/50 blend of Chardonnay and Blanc de Noirs, with the latter made from Pinot Noir and Meunier. The cuvée combines wines from several harvests, with the current release made from 67% 2022–23 wines and 33% 2024. The base wines undergo full malolactic fermentation before the final blend is bottled for its second fermentation. The Champagne is finished with a moderate 9 g/L dosage

Tasting Notes

Fresh and balanced, with citrus, green apple and white peach alongside subtle brioche notes. Fine bubbles and bright acidity give it a clean, dry finish, making this an easy-drinking Champagne with plenty of freshness.

Food Pairing

Excellent with oysters, smoked salmon, tempura fish, roast chicken or soft cheeses such as Brie.

About the region

Champagne is France’s most famous wine region, centred around Reims and Épernay in the northeast. Its cool climate and chalky soils are well suited to producing fresh, high-acid wines from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Although still wines are also made, the region is best known for traditional-method sparkling wine and is widely regarded as producing some of the world’s finest sparkling wines. Champagne has been an AOC since 1936, with strict regulations governing production.
