Cascina Lanzarotti - New Winery

Cascina Lanzarotti is a historic, family-run estate in Monteu Roero (pictured above), Piemonte, nestled in a natural hillside amphitheatre of vineyards and orchards since 1883. Drawing on generations of rural tradition and technical expertise, the estate crafts terroir-driven wines that reflect the distinct soils and microclimate of Roero. Their vineyards span key DOCG plots around Monteu Roero, Canale and Vezza d’Alba, producing elegant expressions of Roero Nebbiolo and Roero Arneis.

Originally a mixed-use farm producing fruit, wheat, livestock and a small amount of wine for family use, Cascina Lanzarotti gradually evolved through the 1950s and 60s into a local winery, known for selling wine directly to households in nearby villages. Springtime visits to fill demijohn bottles became a cherished local ritual, underpinned by community and hospitality.

By the 1990s, Marco and Matteo Lanzarotti had taken the reins, converting more orchards into vineyards and investing in modern cellar facilities, all while upholding the estate’s long-held values of land stewardship and communal care. A major expansion was completed in 2021, equipping the winery with updated technology to support their growing production.

Biodiversity remains central to their philosophy. Today, vibrant birdhouses handmade from recycled materials (pictured below) dot the vineyards as part of an inclusive local initiative, reflecting a continued commitment to sustainability and rural collaboration.
