Oastbrook Estate Vineyard [Sussex]
We have had the pleasure of working closely with America and Nick from Oastbrook over the past year, and they continue to seriously impress with their various takes on Alsatian and Burgundy clones, in both sparkling and still wine format.
The newest addition to our portfolio is Pinot Noir.
One white. One red.
The white is pressed, fermented and kept at low temperatures over the winter to avoid malolactic fermentation. Despite the zero skin contact, the Pinot Noir character is not lost. Subtle red fruit aromas of strawberry and red cherries with a hint of acacia and black pepper, with a rounded, succulent palate balanced by beautifully clean acidity.
A more classic process for the red, with a higher temperature ferment, including a proportion in oak barrels, followed 12 months ageing in Burgundy oak. Reminiscent of a young Burgundy from a colder year, the 2022 is beautifully fresh and bright with notes of crunchy strawberry, redcurrant and cranberry. Delicate hints of toast, earth and spice and a complex finish that continues to develop long after the last sip.
