Last week we tasted the new Petit Mod'Amour 2019 Rosé from Domaine Modat in Rousillon and it's no understatement to tell you that it is incredible. Whole bunch, slowly pressed Syrah blended with barrel fermented Grenache aged on it's lees. It doesn't get any better. So then we had to retaste the other two in the range, including a newly imported red and felt a special offer is in need to tempt you in and try them all.

The six bottle case contains 2 of each (white, rosé and red) wine.

Domaine Modat is a modest 23 hectares of vines found in the commune of Cassagnes in the Agly Valley, 30km due west of Perpignan and 200-300m above sea level. Upon founding the estate in 2007, Philippe Modat has worked the vines organically (achieved certification in 2014) and biodynamically (not yet certified) and having moved back to working as a lawyer he has left it in the safe hands of his dynamic and hard working sons, Quentin who manages the vines and Louis who makes the wines.

The vineyards themselves are composed predominantly of well drained Gneiss, in which are grown indigenous red and white Roussillon varieties - including 115-year-old Carignan. In the last 10 years they have built a modern carbon neutral winery and embraced biodynamic viticulture, working with restrained extraction, fermentation on wild yeasts and as little sulphur as possible.

An eclectic selection of six of the best from six different small FR.IT.ES producers. Nothing ordinary in here, with brand new wineries, all organic and low intervention wine-making and labels that belong on Instagram. 2 French, 2 Italian, 2 Spanish; one Sparkling, two white, three reds. A four bottle mixed case to showcase the core of Maison Moritz-Prado's range. Riesling served three ways, all from their 450m high, 100% schist soils. Organic viticulture, natural fermentations and only a small amount of sulphur when bottling (with no sulphur used for the Nous Somme Libres). All beautifully textured, clean, fruit driven and complex.

Try out six new and exciting imports from two fantastic young winemakers in the Pays Nantais. This January, I had the great pleasure of meeting, tasting and adding two new young talented winemakers to my portfolio in the form of Nicolas Suteau and Jérémie Batard-Langelier.

Across 4 cuvées each hailing from different soils, Jéremie's wines show just what an incredible variety of terroir, differing lees aging and low intervention winemaking can do to the humble Melon de Bourgogne grape. Nicolas Suteau meanwhile choses to vinify in the absence of any sulphur that gives his Folle Blanche and Melon de Bourgogne an intensity of flavour and minerality unlike any other.

Muscadet has never had so much going on...
