Story

Vignobles des 3 Chateaux is nestled at the foot of the iconic Pic-Saint-Loup in the heart of the Pic St.-Loup Appellation in the Languedoc. Situated 150 meters above sea level on a clay and limestone terroir, the estate benefits from both Mediterranean and continental climates. The combination of cooler temperatures, abundant rainfall, and mountain winds helps maintain dryness and promotes the health of the vineyards. This unique environment fosters a diurnal range that contributes to supple tannins and rare finesse in the wines. Michel Marty, Managing Director and oenologist, has led the estate for decades, overseeing the production of wines that reflect this exceptional terroir. As a medium-sized cooperative, Vignobles des 3 Chateaux takes its environmental responsibility seriously. In 2000, they built a water treatment facility and established a group of winegrowers committed to sustainable, eco-friendly practices, following the principles of "lutte raisonnée." They were also the first cooperative in the Languedoc-Roussillon region to install photovoltaic panels, further solidifying their dedication to preserving their unique environment. Winemaking Detail: “La Stèle” refers to the ancient carved standing stones found around Pic Saint-Loup, dating back over 4,000 years. Destemmed and crushed. Direct press into stainless steel tanks for temperature-controlled fermentation for one week only, to preserve delicate fruit aromatics.

Tasting Notes

Pale; light and bright in colour. On the nose; gentle notes of rose petals; orange peel; raspberry and strawberries & cream. The pallet is silky and smooth; with soft raspberries and cranberries; peach skin and a little bite and grip on the end. It finishes with poached peach; vanilla pods and some slightly zestier pink grapefruit.

Food Pairing

Garlic-prawns, Melon-and-Jamon, Tomato-salad

About the region

AOC Languedoc, often referred to as the worlds biggest vineyard, stretches across from the Pyrenees to Provence across a vast section of the south of France. Whilst home to both simple table wine and world class quality wines, it is above all famous for it’s variety of grapes, of terroirs, of climates and consequently it’s blended wines. Across the 150miles of vines climates and soils range greatly; from a truly cool, maritime climate to warmer and drier continental climates affected by mountains and strong winds.
